A World Like No Other Empty
PostSubject: A World Like No Other   A World Like No Other Icon_minitimeFri Aug 01, 2014 1:16 am

He came to an abrupt halt, head lowered near his knees and a mouth wide open that inhaled deep amounts of air. The veins in his arms and neck pulsed with thick blood. The rise and fall of his chest was fast, but gradually slowed to a normal rate now that he had stopped chasing the time. In ways, it was uncalled for; as for his own, there was a reason for everything. Even if it wasn't admitted. Smoothing a hand through his hair, he looked at the ground quietly. Once his vision had cleared, he looked back up and stretched his arms behind his head so that his lungs could stretch. Underneath his shirt, he could feel every inch of his body surrendering to the heavenly feel of it being pulled and eased. He hummed in silent pleasure between breaths.

Looking around, he noticed a village out yonder. They were cute, small, but decent enough for what he supposed was one person each. They came in assortment of colors and shapes. He liked consistency, but it'll do. As most dogs, he would adapt well to his new environments; he could already feel himself feeling a lot more at home at the moment, actually. He was standing on a cobblestone road it seemed, a path which lead into the village and up a large hill with cottages sitting on the sides. Tilting his head, he scratched his ear and swatted his tail through the air like as if something was bothering him. He rose his head and waited a second. When the tweeting of birds silenced, he called out, cupping his mouth and sending out a 'howl-like hoot', which basically related a normal 'Woohoo', like what someone would do if they were doing something that thrilled them. A roller-coaster yell, he thought.

He wore an old, worn-in dark red sports hoodie, which with his lacross number, 11, on the back as well as his last name printed above it. There were some tears and holes, but that never stopped him from wearing it in any weather. His pants were a light blue and formed well to his legs, more so at the bottom than the waist, and were ripped at the knees. Turned backwards, he had an 'OBEY' snapback on his head, and styled a clean pair of normal black sneakers. He wasn't fancy, and he had no real reason to be either. He was just a bartender after all. Waiting for someone to come for him, he put down his duffle bag and ukelele case so he could walk in a slow circle. He listened to music, which was a time-cruncher to him. It also helped him get his mind off things so he didn't act out so easily. Another world, he liked to think. A world like no other.

On my phone, not my best. :\

As Connor got up and dressed himself, he combed his dark brown, almost black, hair neatly to the side, followed by a nice smooth shine as he applied a little of gel to keep it in place. He didn't find the time to put in his contacts, so he quickly scavenged around for his glasses and pushed them onto the bridge of his nose before examining himself in the mirror on his bathroom door. The neko's ears were hidden against his hair and underneath a grey knitted beanie, which kept him slightly warmer than the norm. Instead of a nice dress shirt and new jeans, he wore an open jacket with a grey shirt underneath and khaki shorts, wrapped with a dark brown belt. It wasn't his best outfit, but comfort was a must that day, he thought. A bit of stubble was found on his cheeks, but he didn't feel like shaving. He was comfortable in this suit, and it was only a walk, it's not like anything fancy was going to happen soon, or so he knew. Walking out, he grabbed his shoulder bag that had a couple carrots in them saved for a special someone. When he reached the stables, he found a giddy horse of a grey and black and white assorts of colors trying to unlock her gate. He fed her and petted her neck and mane slowly until she was finished with her daily amount of treats. After wishing her a silent goodbye, the Neko stepped out of the stables and headed back up the cobblestone road to his home, or the village's garden at it's center. But he was stopped by a foreign scent. Flicking his tail, he looked around and sniffed the air - it smelt of dog, he knew. There weren't a lot of Inu's amongst them, which was great to know now that there could be a variety to their numbers, hopefully, that is. Shifting, he trotted out into the brushes and grasses at a growing speed. His paws carried him far and quickly, tail raised in alert towards the stranger until he shifted back in front of him. He was slightly taller than the Brigadier, but that didn't scare him any. "Hello, I am Brigadier Connor, Queen Willow's right hand and boyfriend." He said proudly, smirking quietly to himself as he tried to make a display of the two different titles. "Who are you and why have you come upon my Queen's lands?"

The sound of small paw steps made him look up. He looked around him and wondered where it had come from. He didn't like cats very much. Not a lot of dogs did, him being one of them. When finally a little cat of black and white reached to a few feet from him did he realize it was a Neko. A man and cat built into the same body just as much as he was, only he was a man and dog. When he shifted, Nikolai held his breath. His bark wasn't as bad as his bite, he assumed. But as the man came into suit, he suddenly felt smaller, no matter the irony built with his largest domestic canine skin. He wouldn't've thought a cat would scare him, but it did. Then he looked him over. This man had dark green eyes and black brown hair. He looked a lot like... Alexandria, his god mother. Was this the knight told in Mora bedtime stories? Was it really him in the cold flesh standing in front of him? He was so curious now. And when the man spoke a name, Nikolai's heart skipped.

"Uh!.. Uh um.. Wow.. It's you." He sounded nervous. He was shaking so much. Nikolai really wasn't sure what could trigger these fidgety reactions in his body, but he thought that could be a good thing in a way. He took his hand quickly without thinking and shook it firmly and fast before laughing a bit too loud. His eyes were shocked, a thundery grey in color, but bright in feeling, "It's an honor to meet you, Brigadier Connor. I'm Nikolai, uhh.. Nikolai McCall actually. I can't believe it's you!" He spoke fast. His words slurred with the stuttering and pauses between what he meant to say and what he didn't. Boy was he nervous. Stop shaking already, he told himself. Then he realized he was still shaking the man's hand and let go, rubbing behind his neck and taking a huge step back. You're so stupid, he told himself again. "I've- I've heard so much about you. You have no idea how long I've waited to meet you. I.. uh.. um. Oh! Queen Willow, she sent me here about a week ago."

He dug into his pocket and pulled out a flimsy, light lavender colored napkin he took from the club he works at. The Queen owned it, but he only worked for her. It held a bunch of scribbles and numbers, one of them being Willow's alone in case he would get lost on the way there. He gave it to Connor and smiled really wide as he tucked his hands close to his body. "I'm here for a home. I've discussed things with her about being a spy, or whatever you call it. A Herald, yeah. A-and.. Really, it really really is an honor to meet you. I know so much about you and your family. I just had to see it for myself if the knight was real." He exclaimed and laughed, pressing a hand to his chest.

Connor found his eyes to begin wandering away from his reach. They cascaded up and down the Great Dane Inu, slightly in surprise as it was in fact the first time he had met a Great Dane in general. This wasn't exactly his first rodeo in accepting an inu, however, which was a plus, he believed. Most canine Moras weren't all that bad anyway, he thought. Or so he thought comparing to those whom he's come across in his time. He could sense the nervousness and trembling with the other's tone of voice, which startled him silently from within. The Brigadier's brow slowly rose in curiosity and slight concern for the other. He looked like he was going to be sick, or possibly faint, which worried him. He wasn't good with those sort of things with other people, let alone himself. "It's me alright.. unless I've been misplaced for another Connor..." He said slowly, taking a hesitant step back as he thought he was going to be jumped on or something. How did this guy know him? When his hand was taken, the Brigadier's eyes widened and he stumbled forwards by the strength in the other's hand. He wasn't the most strongest Mora, but he had rank to back him up in power against the great canine. But this Dane was strong, perhaps did sports or worked out a lot more often, probably daily if not some times a week. Sometimes he wished he had that time to put away for his body and health - but he was too occupied with work and his girlfriend at the time to worry, "It's nice to meet you too, Nikolai McCall." He said shakily, as he wouldn't let go of his hand. Connor mewled quietly to be released. His hand was beginning to hurt beneath the canine's grip.

When he let go, he stepped back and rubbed his knuckles slowly before glaring up at the other to the name of his Queen. Apparently they had arranged a pre-interview, he didn't know that was a thing. Maybe she did most of the accepting since he seemingly was working for her at the club she owned. Well, at least he made a great enough impression on her to be able to be a spy. "Oh.. I see, that'll be fine. If Willow has given you her blessing, then you may be a Herald. I'm sure she's already asked you about commitment and such." Connor looked at the napkin quietly for a long pause until taking it from the man's hand. It was inked with several important addresses, directions and even numbers. He compared them from memory, some being a taxi service or either his or Willow's number in case for emergencies. And it was her writing, so the Brigadier was convinced. He brushed off the rest of the man's babbling and narrowed his eyes in confusion. "But.. before you go any further, how do you know me?" Willow must've said something regarding his position and importance, but Nikolai mentions something of stories, like as if he's told by others about the kingdom. Connor looked at him with a serious gaze, stepping forwards in great concern and question. He wanted answers.

He nodded. Nodded some more, and then another nod - but most of it was a complete blur to his lack of attention-filled mind. Some side of him was catching it, while the rest of him was drawing a blank. He wasn't so sure as to if the Neko could see it in his eyes. If he was, then maybe he'd be screwed in the end, which would take a damper on his role of being apart of them. Raking a hand through his hair, he kicked the ground and put his fist to his lower back slowly as he appeared to be listening. Putting a little pressure into his knuckles, his spine rejoiced in an echoing of small pops and crunches as they re-alined. He sighed in pure serenity. Boy did that feel good, he whispered, his tail wagging happily at his calves. "Hm?" His ears shot up at the little meow the man murmured supposedly due to the pain in his hand, as he was rubbing it like as if it'd heal the pain. This made Nikolai's lower jaw slowly open, for he was about to apologize, until the other began to speak. It must've not hurt that bad if he recovered so soon, he thought blindly.

He asked him a question. Nikolai's eyes faded to a soft grey rather than the normal stormy clouded pigment found. As Connor stepped forwards at him, he took once step back. "Don't hurt me! I was just saying I've known a lot of 'bout you, that's all, man! Really.." His head ducked, and his arms flew up as an instinct so that he could protect himself if he were about to fly a punch. A low whimper moved out of his throat as he tucked his tail between his extremely long legs. His intentions were to not have any trouble with the man, especially not with the circumstances as of then and now. "When I was younger, I heard about the whole break out thing with you and the Queen. My mother used to tell stories of ya'guys being heroes and stuff. And my god-mother was your mom and I thought maybe it'd be great if we knew each other. I mean seriously, I ain't that bad of a guy or anything, ya know. Just kinda big and thought you guys could need me 'round here and stuff. I'm pretty strong. Not the smartest, but I know my lefts and rights, ya' know?" He talked very fast and sometimes screwed up his words alone with it. His hands moved with them, rapidly moving about in front of him as he tried to explain, all the while not really looking at the Neko as he said them either. It's like as if he was talking to no one, just the air and he was letting it all vent out into the open like he was alone.

Umm.. Tell ya what, we can move on from this.
Just say that Connor told him to hush up and took him into the
kingdom to his house for them to discuss the matter alone.

You can change your name to Herald Nikolai now. c:
